Employment

The Society has 2 basic types of positions: Therapists, and Victim Services Workers:

Paid Positions

Therapists

Our therapists hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent.  With few exceptions, therapists are usually offered a position after a successful term as a Practicum Student.  The therapist position is typically part-time until they can build a sufficient case-load that is a mixture of paying and subsidized clients.

Victim Services Workers

Our Head Office employs two Victim Services workers.  These positions are funded by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Victim Services Division.  Currently, a part time position leading to full time is open.  Preference is given to applicants with some Victim Services, or related criminal justice experience.

Practicum Positions

Students in their second year of a Master’s program in Counselling Psychology may email their cover letter and CV for consideration to the Executive Director.  This is an eight month commitment and is limited to a very few students at any given time.  Students may begin their placement in September, January or April.

Volunteer Positions

Volunteer positions are focused on staff support and do not involve client interaction.  Volunteers are especially appreciated in preparation for special events.
