CLIENT HOLIDAY DINNER EVENT 2013

On December 13, 2013, BCSMSSA held a client holiday social to celebrate the season with our survivors. Our third year hosting this event, the goal was to recognize the strength of our survivors and give back to them. The event was a success thanks to all the volunteers who donated their time. This year, we were especially fortunate to have tremendous support from businesses around the community who donated food and gift certificates for the event. As usual, Dr. Steven Lake and his wife Paulette cooked up a delicious turkey for all to enjoy.

Chairman of the agency, Stephanie Tofield was also present at the event and generously donated gift bags and her skills as a turkey carver.

A message from Executive Director, Don Wright:

“This year was our third annual client holiday dinner. The dinner was organized and paid for primarily by staff and board members. Initiated by Steven Lake, a lot of the organization is credited to Amy. Mike pooled businesses in the neighborhood and got donated desserts and coffee.  Stephanie, chairman of the board and Pam Johnson, board member, purchased gift bags for clients in attendance. Several staff members and a couple staff member’s partners were on hand for the event to assist. The purpose of this event is to honor the strength and courage of our client who take on the often arduous task of recovery from sexual abuse. The outcome was a celebration of the amazing and unique community created by our clients and staff, bound by the commitment to healing the wounds of sexual abuse and to embrace a new life free of that burden.” -Don Wright, Founder and Executive Director

We would like to extend thanks to all the businesses that contributed and also Independent Grocer for all their generous donations to the event. Even though this is our third year hosting the event, we continue to struggle with funding and we are truly grateful for all that supported us this year.

So as they say: eat, drink and be merry. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season! If you missed out on our social (and the delicious turkey), here are some photos from the social to keep you in the loop.
