Male Survivors: Preparing The Way For Meaningful Intervention
The 2-day training seminar is targeted towards:
- mental health workers,
- corrections personnel,
- social workers,
- family support workers,
- crisis workers,
Twice per year, the BC Society for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse provides training for individuals who come across male survivors of sexual abuse in their work. The Fall training is coming soon!
This two-day workshop is designed for a variety of helping professionals. It is aimed at those who do not specialise in providing therapy for adult male survivors, but who have encountered, or who expect to encounter, adult males with sexual abuse in their backgrounds. The two-day format will provide participants with an understanding of the special issues of males who were sexually abused as children or sexually assaulted as adults. It will equip them not to work in depth with male survivors, but rather to provide initial support that is informed, empowering, and sensitive as well as to make referrals as appropriate.
