Individual therapy is available for male survivors of sexual abuse or domestic violence. Every client has up to 26 sessions with a therapist. After those sessions have expired, and in communication with the therapist, the client can return to the waitlist or be referred. The frequency of sessions is tailored to the individual’s needs.
Before therapy can begin, a short intake session is held with one of our Victim Services Workers and the purpose of the meeting is to answer a few administrative questions (see below) and to determine a payment plan. The first counselling session is with the assigned therapist and is only an introductory meeting that allows the client to determine if the therapist is a comfortable fit and for the therapist to assess the client’s needs and personal style.
Individual sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor: $100 per hour. A sliding scale is available for those with financial barriers. Please contact us for more information.
Master’s level Practicum Clinician (supervised by a registered clinical counsellor): $50 per hour. A sliding scale is available for those with financial barriers. Please contact us for more information.
Accepted payment methods: Cash, cheque, or credit card. We also accept employment benefits. Please check with your insurance provider to ensure that they cover Registered Clinical Counsellors.
For those who qualify, funding may be available. Speak to Victim Services if you need more information. Others may qualify for therapy on a sliding scale basis, with therapy to be provided by one of our Practicum Students (supervised by a Therapist). Note that there is a waiting list for this service.
